MOUNT VERNON — Nate Overholt was named environmental health director for the Knox County Commissioners, effective May 30, during Wedensday’s Knox County Board of Health meeting.

“I’m glad to have Nate come aboard,” said Julie Miller, health commissioner. “It will be nice to have someone internal step up. I’m looking forward to working more closely with him.”

Overholt was hired by the health department in February 2008 where he has been a registered sanitarian. He has also been a service department employee with the Village of Fredericktown, quality control technician with Kokosing Materials Inc. and a biological science technician with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He is a graduate of Fredericktown High School and received a bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental studies, from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
