MOUNT VERNON — Latin is alive and well at Mount Vernon High School. Instructor Mary Jo Behrensmeyer said 21 students received awards on the National Latin Exam.

Jacob Miller earned a gold medal, and silver medalists include Katherine Bell, Ben Cochran, Kylee Plank, Andrew Clarkson and Jake Frazier.

Those achieving Magna Cum Laude status were: Andrew Powell, Ruthanne Bandy, Josie Campolo, Samantha Williams, Adam Skaggs, Chris Omahan, Brianna McDowell, Jordan Shremshock and Brenna Mahn.

Cum Laude honors went to Johnson Cochran, Layne McKinley of St. Vincent de Paul School, Sarah Bertschy, Conor Croswell, Maggie Frye and Alex Glibert.
