  • With the opening of the Hiawatha Water Park/Pool set for June 6,  lifeguards have started training exercises. Friday afternoon this group was practicing a compact jump as a rescue technique. First-year lifeguard Ben Cochran holds a flotation device around him as he jumps in the pool. The swim season opens in the evenings  only on June 6, 7 and 8, from 4 until 8 p.m. Starting June 9, hours will be noon until 8 p.m.
