HOWARD — Perseverance. Spontaneous. Highly spirited. Pride. Family. These are just a few of the words used to describe the East Knox High School Class of 2011 during Friday night’s commencement.

Add to that list scholarly. This year’s graduating class set a new benchmark for the school, garnering $1,375,880, in scholarships. This number topped the Class of 2010, which topped the $1 million mark for the first time in school history.

Class president Joey Montoya encouraged his 92 classmates to thank their parents for their love and support throughout the first phase of their lives.
