DANVILLE — The village of Danville got some good news on their water sewage treatment project — they may be able to accomplish it without raising rates for village residents.

The village is eligible for principal forgiveness from the state for half of its cost for the construction phase of the project. It also has available a zero-percent hardship loan for the planning phase. Those monies are coming from the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund, which Danville received.

“Danville really benefited from its score. We sold it (the project) hard to the committee. It was needed and deserved and they agreed,” said Brian Coughlin of Bird and Bull, the engineering firm hired by the village to take a look at the project.

The proposed sewer project would be divided into three phases — planning, design and construction.
