MOUNT VERNON — Partnering with numerous community agencies through collaboration efforts was the topic at a roundtable discussion Tuesday morning at New Hope Early Education Center. John Martin, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities director, attended the informal luncheon to hear about the efforts taking place here in Knox County to benefit the local board of developmental disabilities.
“We are lucky to have a director like you for two terms who is proactive and who will come and listen to us so we can bring a lot of things to the table,” said Steve Oster, Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities superintendent. “Hopefully we can get from you some resources and tips on what other counties are doing.”
Martin stated that as he tours around the state of Ohio, “It helps to see what people are struggling with and what works for you.”
“We’re looking at different partnerships where we can be very open in finding ways of meeting needs where there is a void,” said Jen Odenweller of the current efforts of the United Way of Knox County. “Some communities are hurting, but we have been pretty stable.”
