  • Shooting the scenes for a feature film is complicated business. Tuesday morning the crew filming the movie “Liberal Arts,” were on the streets of Gambier mounting a camera on the side of a car. With the characters inside, the car was towed by a truck around the village so the outside scene would be seen through the windows. Starting Friday filming will take place in Mount Vernon over the next three weeks.

GAMBIER — Kenyon College and the city of Mount Vernon will be featured in a new feature film being produced by an independent filmography company, BCDF Pictures. The movie, “Liberal Arts,” is about a college coed, Zibby, and Jesse, a 30-something fellow. The couple shares a love of books and music and sparks begin to fly. Their age difference, however, complicates their fledging relationship. Further details about the plot are not yet available.

The film stars Kenyon alumnus Josh Radnor as Jesse. Radnor also wrote the screenplay and is co-producing and directing the film. He won the Paul Newman Award while at Kenyon, and has appeared in numerous productions, including “Not Another Teen Movie” and “How I Met Your Mother.”

Elizabeth Olsen, the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, plays Zibby, and the film also features Richard Jenkins of “The Visitor” and “Six Feet Under” fame.
