MOUNT VERNON — The state investigation into the alleged falsification of paramedic re-certification papers by Mount Vernon Fire Chief Shawn Christy continues.

Christy’s case must go before the Ohio Department of Public Safety Emergency Medical Services board, but it is not on the agenda for this Wednesday’s meeting, according to Geoff Dutton of the communications office for ODPS. Because the board meets every other month, Christy’s case will not be heard by the state until at least August.

Christy was placed on paid administrative leave by city officials June 2, but there has been no movement on the case as of Monday. City Safety-Service Director Dave Glass said he hopes to get this settled as quickly as possible.

Messages left for Christy seeking comment have been unreturned.
