FREDERICKTOWN — Summer is a time for fairs and carnivals, and the games of chance which line the midways at those events. What are one’s chances of winning those games? Sixth-grade students in Sally Rife’s math class decided to find out.

The math students worked in groups to come up with an idea for a carnival game. They then designed and built the game, predicted the chance of winning, determined the probability of winning and then conducted trials on their game.

The math students then, on May 31, invited the entire primary and middle school to a “Probability Carnival” to try out the games they developed.
