MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Board of Commissioners had two meetings and a public hearing on their agenda on Monday. A public hearing took place first and approval was given to B&J Drilling Inc., Danville, to apply brine, as needed, at 13911 Millersburg Road and 27550 Buckeye Road, Danville, for ice and dust control. This agreement is good for one year.

Knox County Job and Family Services Director Matthew Kurtz brought an agreement to the commissioners to further a project that is a collaborative program between Knox and seven other counties. This pilot program in an innovative way of performing case management over the phone in order to increase public assistance in caseload management.

A call center will be created for people in the eight counties to call in to make changes and make applications for food assistance, Medicaid or other needs. “This will help us load balance and help each others’ work,” said Kurtz.
