GAMBIER — The farm at 22569 Hopewell Road, southeast of Gambier, has been in the Dudgeon family for 200 years. Present owners, Chuck and Rita Dudgeon, live on another farm not far away.

Sunday afternoon the Philander Chase Corp. farmland preservation picnic was held at the farm where the Dudgeons were presented with a Century Farm document on the genealogy of the ownership of the land.

Chuck Dudgeon said the first Dudgeon came to Ohio in 1811, and purchased a quarter section or 160 acres. Over the years he added 712 more acres. Other generations of Dudgeons have sold off most of the land with 180 acres remaining.
