NUNDA — A new school is taking shape on Nunda Road.

Overcrowding at West View School has forced the Amish community in the Nunda Road area to build a second school. Nunda Ridge School, thanks to the work of the nearly 80 families in the area, is expected to be open this fall.

Eli Yoder, who’s heading up the building of the school just north of Ireland Road, said the school is being built with donated labor from the families that will use the school.

“Our neighbors and friends are getting together and everyone is trying to donate a full day of work,” said Yoder. “We’ve got enough people in the area, I think we’ll get most of the work donated.”
