MOUNT VERNON — Bids were opened on different construction projects Monday morning at the Knox County Commissioners office. With various contractors in attendance, Commissioner Teresa Bemiller opened bids for road resurfacing and bridge replacement projects.

The road resurfacing projects are divided into treatments of blacktop, and chip and seal. Stretches for the blacktop include 23,946 feet of Waterford Road, 19,620 feet of Hazel Dell Road and 8,807 feet of Nunda Road. Proposed to receive the chip and seal treatment are 17,956 feet of Ridge Road, 16,245 feet of Nunda Road, 9,527 feet of Cullison Road, 13,881 feet of Henpeck Road, 13,211 feet of Grove Church Road and 6,821 feet of Granny Creek Road. Estimated cost for the projects was set at $719,330 by Knox County Engineer Jim Henry.
