MOUNT VERNON — Maybe it was the seemingly rare combination of good weather and a holiday weekend, but First Friday drew one of its largest crowds ever and a record number of classic cars on Friday evening.

The Cruise-in drew 105 cars, easily topping the previous best turnout of 88, reported Heritage Centre Association Treasurer Dee Allerding. She attributed it to the great weather and the holiday weekend.

“We don’t give any trophies and there are no prizes, but we don’t charge anything and we have drawings and door prizes,” she said. “People just come to visit and enjoy themselves.”
