MARTINSBURG — Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate a shooting Friday night that left a woman dead and a man critically injured. However, no new information was available this morning, said Lt. Ann Ralston at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Public Information Center.

Jesse Bernard Collins, 30, of Frazeysburg, remains in critical condition at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Licking County Sheriff’s Office are also involved in the investigation, with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

According to the patrol, the incident occurred on Ohio 586 after 10 p.m. Friday when a northbound vehicle driven by Dawn Pressley-Claggett, 35, of St. Louisville, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Both occupants had been shot. A weapon was recovered at the scene. The initial report of the incident came in a 10:27 p.m. call to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office 9-1-1 line.

The driver was dead and the passenger, Collins, was transported by helicopter to OSU Medical Center.

The patrol has reported the incident appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute.
