MOUNT VERNON — Various concerns were brought to the Mount Vernon Water and Wastewater Commission on Tuesday morning focusing on billing reimbursements and credits for area businesses and residents.

Following the approval of the June meeting minutes and the May adjustments journal, focus turned to an issue of a water billing at 206 N. Park St. Homeowner Andrew Bickell claimed he discovered that he has been being billed for a two-unit home since he bought the home in March 2006. The home was reportedly a two-unit structure previous to him buying it but has only been one unit ever since. As Bickell was requesting a reimbursement for charges over these many years, commission chair Dave Glass stated he understands the request but questioned just how far back any reimbursement should go. Judy Scott, administrator of treatment and distribution, explained that cases such as this have come up in the past, and discussion for reimbursement has been approached as a precedent. Glass moved to allow a credit for three and one-half years, and commission members gave their unanimous approval.
