CENTERBURG — The Centerburg school board on Monday discussed a proposal by Solar Planet Energy to install solar panels on school property to produce electricity for the schools.

Superintendent Mike Hebenthal said the solar energy project would be at no cost to the district. It is projected that the solar panels will generate 80 percent of the electricity currently used by the district, resulting in an annual savings of $50,000 to $80,000, potentially. The board took the proposal under advisement and will consider the matter at its August meeting.
