MOUNT VERNON — The first steps in construction of the Coshocton Road-Yauger Road connector near Knox Community Hospital should begin today with the contractor putting silt fencing at the site. By Monday, the contractor should be ready to begin moving earth.

“It’s been a long process, but this project should benefit the community by helping with traffic issues on Coshocton Avenue, said Mount Vernon City Engineer Cameron Keaton.

A final preconstruction meeting was held Wednesday at City Hall to make sure everything is ready to go and to give everyone the contractor’s project schedule.

For example, American Electric Power, which will be installing the street lights in the project, raised some questions pertaining to the presence nearby of the hospital’s helipad.

AEP needs to make sure the height and location of the poles does not interfere with any helicopter landings or takeoffs. The hospital representative said he would contact the companies which use the helipad to set up a meeting at the hospital.
