Last week provided several days of good drying weather for farmers. Richard Montgomery, who farms with his son, Brian, on Simmons Church Road just south of Mount Liberty, had his baler kicking out 60-pound straw bales every eight seconds Thursday afternoon in an effort to beat the excessive heat expected this week in Knox County.
