Parkside Restaurant 8 & under claimed the tournament championship at the Dixie Days fastpitch softball tournament at Memorial Park on Sunday. Now everyone can relax just off the midway at the Knox County Fair in a pavilion dedicated to the late Denny Irwin. A longtime member of the fair board and the Mount Vernon Lions Club, Irwin passed away in 2009. Larry Brown Jr., 33, Apple Valley, had cuts and bruises when his car hit this tree just after midnight today. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said he was eastbound on Danville-Amity Road, a mile east of Amity, when his car left the right side of the road. He told the patrol he dodged a deer on the road. He walked a distance to his mother’s house who took him to Knox Community Hospital for treatment. He was charged with failure to control. (Photo by Virgil Shipley)
