MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Board of Health voted to designate a Howard residence as a public health nuisance since it has been vacant and neglected for several years.

“It is uninhabitable,” said Nate Overholt, division director of Environmental Health Services at the Knox County Health Department. “It’s overgrown with weeds, there are holes for animals to get in, debris, and the roof is pulling from the house in some places.”

Both Overholt and Howard Township Zoning Inspector Bill Gordon said they have made attempts to talk to property owner Gerald Eddy but have been unsuccessful.
