MOUNT VERNON — Bond was set at $5,000 for Kenneth Hall when he appeared by television monitor from the Knox County Jail before Judge Paul Spurgeon on Tuesday morning in Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

Hall, 41, pleaded no contest to charges of assault, resisting arrest and obstructing official business from an altercation Sunday with Mount Vernon Police Officer Jessica Butler. Butler was attempting to help Lisa Moody, who had received gunshot wounds at her residence.

Moody remains hospitalized in intensive care at Grant Medical Center on Tuesday.

After a description of the incident was read from Butler, Hall’s response was, “I don’t remember a lot of that. What I can say is I remember she shot herself.”

Spurgeon found Hall guilty of the three charges. He remains in the Knox County Jail until sentencing is scheduled.
