JOHNSTOWN — Meeting in special session on Monday, the Northridge Board of Education appointed a new board member and voted to proceed with the proposition of a school district income tax.

Chris Pokorny will fill the unexpired term of board member Troy Wilke. That term expires Dec. 31.

Treasurer Jim Hudson said the levy resolution passed unanimously. With that resolution, the board will be asking voters to approve a 1 percent school district income tax which would be in effect for five years.
