MOUNT VERNON — Interchurch Social Services will again offer clothing, school supply and taxable vouchers to eligible Knox County residents.

To be eligible, households must include children under the age of 18 and household income must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. In order to receive vouchers, families must provide proof of residency (a current utility bill is suggested), birth dates and Social Security numbers for every member of the household — no exceptions.

Funding for this program is provided by the Knox County Department of Job & Family Services.

Vouchers will be distributed to residents in the Mount Vernon City School District on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while supplies last, at The Dan Emmett Conference Center, 150 Howard St., Mount Vernon. In the Mount Vernon City School District, school supply vouchers will be given to junior and senior high school students.

The Vineyard Church of Knox County, in partnership with other area churches and businesses, will distribute backpacks on Sunday, Aug. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vineyard Church of Knox County, 806 Harcourt Road. Due to limited supplies, backpacks will be distributed only to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Those receiving backpacks must be residents of Knox County and present with a genuine need.

Residents in the East Knox and Danville school districts can apply for vouchers on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while supplies last, at the St. Luke Community Center, 307 S. Market St., Danville.

Residents in the Fredericktown School District can apply for vouchers on Monday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while supplies last, at the Interchurch office, 69 N. Main St., Fredericktown.

Residents of the Centerburg school district should call 625-5940 to schedule an appointment.
