MOUNT VERNON — Help is on the way for families that are having difficulty equipping their children for the start of a new school year.

Joy Harris, Interchurch Social Services, said ISS has again received funding from Knox County Jobs & Family Services to provide vouchers for school clothing and supplies as well as for taxable household items. Each of the Interchurch offices throughout the county will have a certain number of vouchers for their service area.

The clothing vouchers are for $50 per child, school supplies and taxable items vouchers are in the amount of $25 each. Different areas will be doing different things with regard to school supplies. For example, in Mount Vernon, school supply vouchers are reserved for middle school and high school students.
