MOUNT VERNON — A written not guilty plea was filed by Knox County Public Defender Bruce Malek on Monday on behalf of former Danville Police Officer Thomas Looney.

Looney had been scheduled for an arraignment on Thursday.

Bond was set at $100,000 on July 29, by Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster.

Looney was indicted July 13, 2010, for grand theft and receiving stolen property. He was arrested July 27 by the Fredericktown Police Department on the outstanding nationwide arrest warrant.

A jury trial will now be scheduled with the Knox County Court of Common Pleas.

Looney remains in the Knox County Jail.
