MOUNT VERNON — Graduation ceremonies for 49 members of the 2011 Class at Knox County Career Center School of Practical Nursing was held the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Chapel on July 31.

Marty Durbin, a graduate of the center’s first practical nursing class in 1980, was the speaker. Now a registered nurse, Durbin serves as a member of the Practical Nursing Advisory Committee and works with practical nursing students during their rotation through labor and delivery.

“You need to know where you’ve come from to know where you are going,” Durbin told the soon-to-be graduates. She said the graduates will always appreciate the quality of the foundation education, and professionalism they’ve received through attending the P.N. program at the Knox County Career Center.

Durbin also encouraged the graduates to always approach the core of their clients with the compassion, knowledge and professionalism they’ve come to know through their education.
