MOUNT VERNON — Twelve handcast bells, featuring The Alcove Restaurant, were auctioned off Saturday during the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival.
Mark Ramser, who has purchased bells for a few different years, made sure to get one this year for himself as well as his sister, Susan, as they are two of several owners of The Alcove. A third bell was purchased to display at The Alcove. “We just want to support the festival, and this year in particular since The Alcove was the business being honored on the bell.”
“They’re nice, and it helps out the cause,” said Guy Dugan who has been buying bells for five years now. “We’ve always wanted a collection and have five right now,” he added, stating he hopes to add more to his collection in the coming years.
Others purchasing bells were the Gresley family, First-Knox National Bank, Steve Mullendore, Pat and Sandy Crow, Keith and Vicky Sant, Tim and Cindy Crouch, Revival Properties and Ray Davis.
