COLUMBUS — Anthony Castelvetere of Lexington was fired on Friday from his position with the State Fire Marshals office after a pre-disciplinary report determined he is unfit to serve as a fire safety inspector after violating work rules including neglect of duty and dishonesty, according to documents released by the Ohio Department of Commerce on Monday.
The investigation into Castelvetere’s conduct started in 2008 after an anonymous complaint was filed stating he was conducting personal business while on the state’s clock. The Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted the investigation that led to several felony charges filed in Richland County.
Research into his work for the OSFM from 2005 to 2009 concluded several instances of unreported violations, adjusted work hours on his time sheets, falsified work records that did not correspond to GPS data collected from OSHP, and a pattern of negligence that continued for years.
