MOUNT VERNON — A break-in at Glass Garden Greenhouse on West Gambier Street in the early hours of Saturday morning resulted in charges being filed against Jason Moran, 27, Mount Vernon.

“We have had some problems with that business being broken into,” said Mount Vernon Police Chief Mike Merrilees. “So we have been watching it, and we did apprehend one suspect early Saturday morning.”

Moran was caught by two officers on the premises.

Charges were filed on Monday against Moran for breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony. A bond hearing is to be scheduled for a later date. Other charges may be pending, according to Merrilees.

Glass Garden Greenhouse has been closed since the fall of 2010 and is scheduled for sheriff’s auction on Aug. 26, according to Chad Forster, owner of Forster’s Seeds, whose family formerly operated the greenhouse.
