MOUNT VERNON — A Marion Street business owner is pushing for the city of Mount Vernon to convert a large portion of the street from a one-way street to a two-way street.

Mike Morris, along with his attorney, Phillip Lehmkuhl, addressed Mount Vernon City Council Monday night with his request to make all of Marion Street two-way traffic, which he said, would not only ease a traffic burden for the residents but also his customers at Mike’s Custom Garage.

Morris presented a petition, signed by 21 of the 23 households on Marion Street, supporting his endeavor. One resident, according to Lehmkuhl refused to speak with Morris and one resident was not contacted. There are also three vacant homes in the neighborhood.
