MOUNT VERNON — It’s party time in the ’burg as the Centerburg school district seriously celebrates following Wednesday’s official release of the 2010-11 school district report cards. The Trojans, as a district, received the highest possible rating from the state — Excellent with Distinction. The elementary and middle school were also rated Excellent with Distinction, and the high school, Excellent.

To say Superintendent Mike Hebenthal is proud of that accomplishment is an understatement.

“This is great news for the start of the school year. It is really exciting to reach the highest possible rating,” he said. “It doesn’t mean we will quit trying to find ways to help kids get better, but it is rewarding to know that all the work over the past years is paying off. This designation really is a credit to the whole Centerburg community: The teachers and administrators have been deciphering data, working with the students to increase their achievement; the parents are making sure their children are ready for school and making sure they are working on their studies; and the students are working hard to meet the expectations placed on them.
