MOUNT VERNON — Residents in southwestern Knox County will soon have more paved surface of bike path to ride or walk on. Bids were opened Thursday morning at the Knox County Commissioners Office for Phase 3 of the Heart of Ohio Trail paving project. This phase incorporates the section of trail between Updike Road and North Clayton Street in Centerburg.

Bids opened Thursday morning were from Park Enterprises of Marion at $283,527.99; Kokosing Construction of Fredericktown at $262,914.45; and Terra Valley Excavating of Bellville at $321,443.03. An estimate for the project prepared by Knox County Engineer Jim Henry was set at $365,575.
