GAMBIER — The annual efforts of those at Harcourt Parish Episcopal Church will once again be brought to fruition in the parish’s yearly rummage sale this weekend. Conducted at the Gambier Community Center on Meadow Lane, the rummage sale will benefit a few different charities, mainly Interchurch Social Services. Also benefiting will be St. Paul’s homeless shelter, Habitat For Humanity, Hospice of Knox County and Mental Health America of Knox County.
“We have a lot of people volunteering, donating their time and energy,” said Donna Lewis, coordinator of the two-day event. “The majority of the items come from what college students have left behind when they leave in the spring; but we have donations coming in from the community as well.”
And while many of these items may come from college students, there is a little something for everyone, according to Lewis. “We’ll have clothes, shoes, dishes, microwaves, refrigerators and all kind of items,” she said.
Prices of items are “extremely low,” according to Lewis, adding that there are many people who come back every year for the sale which has been running for every year since the mid-1960s.
The rummage sale will begin Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday hours are from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Gambier Community Center.
