FREDERICKTOWN — Six-year-old Kenley Miller, daughter of Buddy and Leslie Miller, will reign as Little Miss Tomato over this year’s Fredericktown Tomato Show.
Kenley was crowned on a rainy festival opening night after being one of 19 6-year-olds interviewed before a crowd of appreciative family, friends and neighbors who brought umbrellas and raincoats to deal with the intermittent rain.
The rain was never heavy, but it continued throughout the evening, but enough to soak the unprepared and enough to halt the rides, at least for a while. The rain probably kept some people away, but there was still a good number on hand to enjoy the Fredericktown High School Marching Band, which performed before the opening ceremonies, the food and, of course, Little Miss Tomato.
A Christian rock band, Abia, performed after Miss Tomato was crowned.
Filling out the Little Miss Tomato court were first runner-up, Aspen Maggard, daughter of Michael and the late Ryan Maggard; second runner-up, Laney Wenger, daughter of Ryan and Shelly Wenger; and third runner-up, Gracie Sipes, daughter of Chris and Ashley Sipes.
