FREDERICKTOWN — The annual lip sync contest was the highlight Thursday evening at the Fredericktown Tomato Show. Entertainers, from the very young to adults, took to the stage with costumes, props and fancy footwork and wowed the crowd with their take on popular music from a variety of eras and genres.
Winning the 16 & older group category were Earl, Erma, Daryll and Deborah. Better known as Demitrie Marshall, Katelyn Tanner, Kayla Carpenter and Mikalyn Hunter, the quartet performed an audience-pleasing routine called the “Heartbeat of America Senior Center Dance Battle.” They danced and “sang along” to an eclectic mix of music snippets, from “The Twist” to hoe down. The group also took home prizes for best theme and the Director’s Award.
Second place in the 16 & older group were the Bad Habits who performed “I Will Follow Him,” as seen in the movie “Sister Act.” The sisters included Garie Fearn, Kelly Looney, Tammy Armentrout, Jo Ellen Link, Sheryl Shannon, Lisa Meyer, Lisa Lazzaro and Kathy Byers.
