FREDERICKTOWN — The outpouring of generous community support for the Fredericktown Tomato Show was expressed in a big way when local residents and business owners opened their wallets and their hearts at the annual festival plate auction Saturday evening.
A total of $8,575 was raised in the auction of 10 limited-edition plates. Auctioneer Red Shaw conducted the auction with Herschel Thomas and Larry Moore serving as hawkers. All proceeds go directly toward efforts for next year’s Tomato Show.
On the 25th anniversary of the plate auction, the plates this year depicted Fredericktown Chevrolet which opened in 1953. The artist creating the plate design was Tammy Mowery, and casting the plates was Paul Linhares.
