MOUNT VERNON — Volunteer workers have been donating their time in repairing the home of Diane McClellan and Jeffrey Summers at 227 Johnson Ave. which had recently experienced severe structural damage.
As repairs to an outside wall and the roof were being performed last Saturday, McClellan was able to visit the property while staying temporarily at Whispering Hills Care Center. “I’m very impressed. They’re all just excellent,” said McClellan.
Overseeing the crew during the work has been neighborhood resident Jay Maners who told the News that updates have been made to the electric and plumbing. Some new drywall was hung in two rooms of the house, and some siding had to be installed outside as well as having the roof repaired.
Not able to make it outside very often, McClellan said she and Summers plan to be back at the house when the work is complete in the next couple of weeks.
