MOUNT VERNON — A stolen vehicle originating in New York was recently recovered in Fredericktown, according to Fredericktown Police Chief Jerry Day.

Police officer Nick Holdren was on duty at about 9 p.m. on Friday when he randomly ran a check on a license plate. The identification of the Ford F350 box van came back as being stolen in the state of New York in 2009.

The New York Police Department Patrol Division was then contacted and stated they will contact the original owner and make arrangements for the van to be picked up in Fredericktown. The case of the vehicle being stolen is under investigation. No information was shared about the local driver of the van.
