CENTERBURG — On Monday, the Centerburg Board of Education voted to proceed with the solar power project proposed by Solar Advocate LLC. The board approved an easement agreement for the placement of the solar panels. Installation is expected to begin in early spring and Superintendent Mike Hebenthal said they hope to be up and running by late summer.

“This will definitely save us money on our energy costs,” he added.

The board also entered into a contract with Slam Dunk Sports Marketing for athletic marketing and video display coordination. The company will install full-color LCD video screens in the gym. Treasurer Ellen Scott told the News on Tuesday that service will be at no cost to the board, and may generate some revenue for the district.

The rest of the meeting, Scott said, was largely routine.
