MOUNT VERNON — Starting today, the Mount Vernon News will fall to pieces on Mondays with a new contest aimed at rewarding loyal readers.
A photograph, published sometime last week, has been turned into a puzzle and readers are encouraged to find a new puzzle piece every day, complete the form and enter for a chance to win $50.
“We are very grateful for our readers — some who have subscribed for 60 years or more — and we wanted to offer a fun way to say ‘Thank you,’” said News Publisher Kay Culbertson.
Every Monday, a blank entry form will appear in the pages of the News, as well as the first piece to the weekly puzzle. New pieces will appear daily from Tuesday through Saturday. Readers must attach the pieces to Monday’s entry form to recreate the original photograph. Pieces can be taped, glued or stapled to the form. Completed entry forms are due at the News office by 5 p.m. on the following Wednesday. Winners will be announced that Saturday.
Entry forms and puzzle pieces must be printed on newsprint. Only E-Edition subscribers may enter on printer paper.
Non-subscribers wishing to enter the contest may receive the entry form and a puzzle piece at the News’ circulation desk. Forms and puzzle pieces will be available only on the day they are published. The News office is at 18 E. Vine St., Mount Vernon.
“We are really excited about the opportunity to give back to our readers who continue to support our efforts to provide the area’s best coverage of local news and sports,” Culbertson said.
