MOUNT VERNON — Details of elements in State Issue 2 were shared in a town hall meeting Thursday evening at the Knox County Career Center Adult Education Center.

Conducted by Americans For Prosperity-Ohio in cooperation with the Knox County 9/12 Project, information was shared by a three-member panel consisting of Ohio Senator Kris Jordan, Ohio attorney Suellen Oswald and former State Representative and AFP-Ohio Policy Director Seth Morgan. Serving as moderator for the evening was Rebecca Heimlich, AFP-Ohio State Director.

An informational brochure was shared with everyone attending prepared by Matt Mayer, president of the Buckeye Institute for Public Policy, titled “Solving Our State Fiscal Challenges.” Details in the brochure included that Ohio’s employment in the private sector is down 10 percent since 2000 and down only 1 percent in the government sector; 85 of Ohio’s 88 counties show school districts operating on budget deficits with the majority of them showing a projected deficit of $30 million or more by 2015; and offering projected savings in Ohio in the areas of state government, higher education, local government and public schools through collective bargaining reform.
