FREDERICKTOWN — Fredericktown High School senior Brant Bowers is the only Knox County resident to be named a semifinalist in the latest round in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship program. He joins a distinguished group of gifted students comprised of less than one percent of high school seniors nationwide.

This academically talented high school senior will now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth more than $34 million that will be offered next spring.

Brant is excited about being named a semifinalist. “It’s quite nice,” he said. “I will be extra excited if I’m a finalist.”
