MOUNT VERNON — It’s usually the third time that’s a charm, but for Jerry Sherman, it’s the fourth move for his business Opticare Eyewear that has special meaning.

On Monday, Opticare will open in its new location, 855 Coshocton Ave., next to the Goodwill store in the Mount Vernon Shopping Plaza.

The opening of the new store reunites Jerry with his brother, Dr. Roger Sherman, who will provide refraction services.

“Monday we open at the new location and will start taking appointments for refractions for the end of October,” Jerry said.

The new location will also include a lab where Jerry will be able to work with lenses and assemble frames to meet the needs of his customers.

“Customer service is a primary concern for me,” he said. “It’s what delineates me from Walmart or Sears.”

To further expand his priority to serve his customers, Jerry is expanding his hours of operation to fit the busy lifestyle of his clients.

Opticare Eyewear will be open Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For those with eyewear purchased elsewhere, Opticare will offer service plans for adjustments and repairs.

Opticare will offer glasses, specialty lenses, prescription and non-prescription sunglasses and many other items.
