MOUNT VERNON —— Two suspects were arrested on Thursday with possessing the components needed to manufacture methamphetamines. The arrests were conducted by the Mount Vernon Police Department with the assistance of Ohio State Highway Patrol Officers.

Jacob L. Boucher of Mount Vernon was taken into custody and charged with assembly or possession of chemicals used to manufacture controlled substance. Erica Willer was arrested out of the same incident and is also facing prosecution.

The incident occurred at the intersection of North Sandusky and Washington streets.

Unlike a similar arrest made just last week, the cooking process in the manufacture of meth had not yet occurred. This enabled officers to avoid the dangerous and costly clean-up that would have followed had cooking taken place.

The MVPD is a member of METRICH, a 10-county multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement unit, and will continue its efforts to take drugs and drug dealers off the streets, according to MVPD Chief Michael Merrilees.
