MOUNT VERNON — Ten indictments were handed down by the Knox County Grand Jury on Monday. Arraignments are scheduled for Oct. 20 before Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster.
According to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher, Richard D. Poole, 30, Mount Vernon, allegedly robbed two individuals at knife-point near South Gay Street, Mount Vernon, the night of Sept. 24. Poole is accused of two counts of aggravated robbery. Detective Cpl. Matt Dailey, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.
Reuben M. Troyer, 20, Wooster, was indicted on six burglary charges. Thatcher said between July 17 to Aug. 14, Troyer allegedly broke into six Danville area residences. Detective Sgt. Roger Brown, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.
Just before midnight on Friday, Shane E. Roberts, 53, allegedly fired several rounds from a 9mm handgun as he drove by a Fredericktown area business. At the same time, Detective Sgt. Brown and Lt. Gary Rohler, KCSO, were conducting surveillance at the location because of reports that someone had been shooting at the building. Brown and Rohler stopped Roberts who allegedly had a 9mm handgun and a .380 caliber handgun in his car. Roberts faces charges of discharging both handguns while in a motor vehicle and while upon a public highway for the incident on Sept. 30 and for incidents between Sept. 16 and 29.
Rodney J. Snyder, 36, Mount Vernon, allegedly “cooked meth,” on Sept. 21. Snyder faces charges of illegal manufacture of drugs, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the production of methamphetamine and two endangering children charges since two children were allegedly present in the residence when Snyder was “cooking,” according to Thatcher.
Jacob L. Boucher, 32, and Erica L. Willer, 34, face charges of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the production of methamphetamine for allegedly possessing the components to manufacture the drug on Sept. 29.
Virginia S. Smith, 30, Mount Vernon, was indicted on trafficking in cocaine charges for allegedly selling cocaine on Sept. 2 and 22.
Detective Craig Feeney, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the Snyder, Boucher, Willer and Smith cases.
Anthony A. Ward, 23, Fredericktown, is accused of felonious assault for allegedly causing serious physical harm to a family member during a fight in their home on July 25. Patrolman Matt White, FPD, investigated the case.
George E. Orndorff, 48, Mount Vernon, faces four gross sexual imposition charges for allegedly engaging in sexual contact with a 5-year-old girl on July 22, a 9-year-old-girl and a 10-year-old girl on July 26, and a 4-year-old girl on Aug. 31. Orndorff was also indicted on a burglary charge for allegedly breaking into the bedroom of the 4-year-old girl’s apartment on Aug. 31. Detective Tom Bumpus, KCSO, investigated the case.
Angela M. Thompson, 22, Mount Vernon, is accused of stealing 36 blank checks and then passing allegedly forged checks totaling $1,567, between March 1 and Sept. 1. Patrolman Justin Trowbridge, MVPD, investigated the theft and forgery charges.
