MOUNT VERNON — For safety and security reasons, students who drive themselves to attend classes at any of the local high schools, except Danville, are required to complete forms each year and obtain permission to park in parking lots on school property.

Teachers at the Knox County Career Center, East Knox schools and Mount Vernon City schools are also asked to register their vehicles. If a new vehicle is purchased by a student or a teacher, a new form must be filled out and submitted to the office.

Although East Knox used to charge a $5 parking permit fee, Mount Vernon is the only area district which currently assesses a student parking fee.
