MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Career Center Board of Education on Thursday reached an agreement with the KCCC staff association, and approved a new three-year contract following an executive session to discuss the details.
Treasurer Tracy Elliott said today the board granted the staff a 1.5 percent increase in the base pay rate for the next three years. The agreement also increases the employee share of health insurance premiums to 7 percent.
The rest of the meeting largely concerned adult education. The board approved an Adult Education Special Needs Enrichment program and accepted Linda Patrick as a volunteer instructor for the program. The program, which runs from Oct. 12 to May 16, is not a new program, said administrative coordinator Lisa Bell. It was previously funded through grant money; now the students must pay a $30 supplies fee. The program provides a way for special needs adults to hone and maintain their academic skills and gives them a chance to socialize with their peers two hours per week.
