DANVILLE — A house fire in Danville displaced three families late Friday night. According to a 9-1-1 dispatcher, the call came in at 11:24 p.m.

The Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District responded to the call. However, information regarding the fire was unavailable from the district at press time this morning.

Kelly Brenneman of the Knox County Chapter of the American Red Cross did provide some information on the blaze.

The fire heavily damaged a single structure at 3 W. Main St. in downtown Danville. There were four members of the Jessica Kahle family, two members of the Wendy Zollars family and two members of the Linda Towner family affected.

The Red Cross responded to a call for help at about 12:30 a.m., according to Brenneman, and arrived on the scene sometime before 1 p.m.

“The fire was pretty much over when we got there,” Brenneman said. “Basically they were checking for hot spots.”

The Red Cross provided the families with clothing, food and shoes. The families were able to stay with family and/or friends.
