MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Auditor’s Office has sent out letters to personal property owners in the county to let them know of a 6 percent reduction in the assessment of their properties.

“This is our triennial update,” said Knox County Auditor Jonette Curry. “We had our reappraisal in 2008. That is something we are required by law to do every six years. But every three years we have to do a triennial update (of assessments).”

Curry said with the reappraisal they actually go out and look at each property in the county. But on the triennial update they only have to examine sales.
